Claims Manager (m/f/d) – Construction Project Management

LIST Bau Stuttgart is one of the general contractors within the LIST Gruppe. The LIST Gruppe comprises several general contractors as well as development, consulting, and planning firms, with a total of over 800 employees. As a full-service provider, we develop, plan, build, and revitalize real estate throughout Germany. Everything we do is focused on delivering better real estate. We place a high priority on sustainability and digitalization!

A hallmark of LIST is treating everyone as equals—our hierarchies are flat, and there’s no such thing as “you” versus “us.” We encourage open, interdisciplinary collaboration among colleagues, and we believe there’s no such thing as a “dumb” question. We consistently receive top ratings in employer reviews and have been recognized as a “TOP Company” by kununu for years.

Join the LIST team and help us with the construction of better real estate!

Your Responsibilities

You’ll identify potential claims, develop robust claim strategies, and enforce valid claims—using your legal knowledge, construction industry expertise, and strong negotiation skills. As a Claims Manager/Amendment Manager, you’ll ensure clear contractual foundations, well-founded amendments, and reliable results. This includes, in particular:

  • Contract and Amendment Management: Drafting, reviewing, and evaluating construction contracts, amendments, and contractual claims—including contractual correspondence and the contractual management of construction projects
  • Claim Strategy, Pursuit, and Defense: Managing and tracking filed claims, as well as developing appropriate strategies to enforce our own claims and defend against unjustified claims
  • Analysis of performance deviations and construction schedule disruptions: Assessing deviations from the planned construction schedule and their impact on timelines and finances; drafting construction-related and technical amendments based on well-documented site records
  • Advising project teams: Close collaboration with construction and project management, cost and schedule control, and cost estimation during the bidding and execution phases—including opportunity-risk analyses and cross-functional management
  • Negotiations and enforcement: Preparation, support, and execution of amendment negotiations, construction contract meetings, and partnership meetings in collaboration with project management
  • Documentation, Reporting, and Management: Preparing decision-making documents and reports, maintaining structured claim documentation, working with client portals, and coordinating external construction industry and site management consultants

Your Profile

You work independently, in a structured and goal-oriented manner. With your confident demeanor and negotiation skills, you win over clients and subcontractors alike. You also recognize yourself in the following profile:

  • A completed degree in civil engineering or industrial engineering with a focus on construction—or a comparable qualification (e.g., construction technician)—as well as at least 5 years of professional experience as a project manager or in the aforementioned area of responsibility
  • In-depth knowledge of contract and amendment law (VOB/B, BGB) as well as claims and contract management
  • Very good understanding of construction operations, particularly in construction scheduling and cost estimation, as well as experience dealing with clients and subcontractors
  • Proficiency with MS Office, RIB iTWO, and standard scheduling software
  • Strong communication skills, assertiveness, and the ability to work effectively in a team
  • High level of responsibility and commitment, as well as strong organizational skills

In this role, you’ll hold a key position: You’ll ensure transparency in service delivery, professionally manage claims, and strengthen the financial foundation of our projects. If you want to apply your expertise in claims management in a targeted manner, take on responsibility, and work on an equal footing with clients and project teams, this is the right place for you.
